i do mostly woods/field riding with some occasional track. i want a tire with good straight line hook up but some lateral slide for cornering. puncture resistance a plus of course.

right now i have razr 22x10x9 rear and 23x7x10 front. got them for more traction/ride height in mud/woods. but i rarely get into terrain nasty enough to need them anymore. i definately want to go back to stock sizes b/c these things are heavy as hell and try to tip me in every turn. the only positive about them is they land softer from 8 feet up.

what do you guys recommend?

thanks,
chuck

The tire debate goes on. Personally I like the new Holeshot H.D. Seems to be a good XC tire for now.

i think the holeshot xc is probably the best all around tire out

get stock size razr2s front and back thats what i got and i swear by them STAY WITH MAXXIS get the razr2s tehy hook when you want them to and slide when you want them too i can be in third gear start a slide while turning then scoot back on the seat and walla instant traction trust me slideing wheelies arounds coners is hella fun

just a local "secret" track. nothing real nice, maybe 1/2 mile or little longer. no real big jumps...like i said, max height is probably around 8 ft. with uphill and flat landings. only a little mud after a hard rain. a lot of roots, not many in turns though. mostly hard packed dirt, or some grass if it hasn't been ridden in awhile. i'm not big on gncc or anything, so i'd don't know how'd you'd explain it really.

Track can mean lots of different things IE; XC, MX, TT, drags ect. It sounds like you do more just play riding in general so I would recommend the Kenda Knarlys/Klaws or Holeshot XCs for the terrain that you described. The Razor 2s tend to slide too easily on hard pack.

yeah, i guess it would be closest to xc riding. and it's basically just playing around on a sunday afternoon like you said.

now dragging...1320 ft.....700+ hp out of 2.0 L.... that's were it becomes business for me.

so anyway, you think the kendas are as good as holeshot xc's? and will they last as long? also, how would you compare the lateral grip/slide and linear(straight) hookup of the xc's vs klaws or knarleys?

-thanks for the help.

The Knarly's have worked better for me than any of the other tires I've used. If your terrain is more hard pack then use the Klaws over the Knarly's. I've found foward traction to be better than both Razors and Hole shots and side traction to be a little better than Holeshots and quite a bit better than Razor 2's.

I heard alot of good things about the irazrs. They hook up great and are more predictable than razr II's. But if you ride on hard surfaces they seem to wear much faster. If nothing else the razr I is a great tire, I've always liked the way they felt and wore.

my R has 20" Holeshot XCR-03's or something like that on it. they were on it when i bought it. i believe they're the same tire that the C-dale Blaze(the XC bike, think it was the Blaze), has on it stock
