Hey guys im looking to swap suspension when i get my 450R setting it up for MX. My question is is that im torn between the PEP big cans 8 clicks and the Elka hi lo speeds. Both shocks will be long travel as well. Has anybody had any experience on these shocks? Which would be the better shock for the money( both are relatively the same in price). Thanks a lot.

i spoke with a pro rider the other day who recently made the switch from standard race elka's to the new elka with the high-low speed adjustments. he said that they were absolutley the best shock he had ever run bar none. he also is running the same set up on the rear with elka's rear linkage.

i verified his info with his manager/trainer who said the difference between his old set up versus the new set up was apparent in his lap times and especially thru the whoops sections and ruff terrain on the track.

as far as how they compare to the PEP 8 click shocks i cant honestly say. pep's set up correctly are hard to beat but for the value of the elka, the customer support they offer and the durability of the shock i dont think you can go wrong with them.

I have LT PEP zps 20 clicks on my 450r, and recently rode a 450r with the same components but 8 click cans. The difference was HUGE, the added oil made it a much better ride, I found myself going faster and faster. I have not ridden on Elkas hi-low shocks but they are probably comprable. The PEP zps 8 clicks are 1075 I think, but definetly get them from Baldwin and not Wayne. Also dont buy the ARC big cans, you will NEVER touch the rebound on them.

Have any of you found good deals on a complete LT front end package? And slosh13, is there a reason you're ruling out the TCS ZPS's? I'm very new to the aftermarket shock setups and need as much info as possible! :)

If you get the Elkas I would get the High and Low speed comp adjust for sure. There setups are so bad you will need all the adjustment you can get!

I made the switch this year to the Elite Elkas and they are unbeliveable!!! The difference between them and standard comp and rebound adjust from any manufacture is unreal.
By far the best shocks on the market if your serious about racing.
