What do you think of the Polaris Predator? Is it any good?

I like em. I can't compare them to the 450's cause I haven't rode on of those. But the predators are awsome. And the new ones have a much better seat. They are a little hevy, but they have so much power you can't notice all the wieght.

ive heard a lot of good reports bout em, havent rode one myself. theres just something bout em i dont like, dunno what it is, real heavy prolly i dunno

Those things are pretty quick but also pretty heavy. I dont know why, theres something about the feel and handling of them that just doesnt feel like you dont have full control but maybe that just cuz im usta riding 400exs and 450rs.

the pro steering front end takes about 10-20 hours to get used to, but after that, you wont like the way anything else handles. personally i have had alot of problems with my 03, but all of them were fixed by polaris and they have been solved. if you are a trail rider and like to go on a few mx tracks, its a great quad, but not good for racing every weekend IMO. if i could trade my predator for any stock quad, it would be a new predator, ill just put it that way. QJ is a little more knowledgable than me on them, but i would be happy to answer any questions you have about them.

yep, new ones have reverse, new gearing in TLD edition and redesigned shocks

my two buddies that own them love them. but both of them have had gear problems. one went out 3 days after the warrany went up but polaris still took care of him. they took his old quad and gave him a new one for 1200bucks. if your into this kinda stuff they have the dale jr. edition. it looks kinda cool.

Predators don't do anything bad but are a little wide for tight woods. They really are quick.

i agree with you there, but its sharp turning radius makes up for most of it

It does feel that way, but in all actuallity its only 1" wider than a Z400(Predator=47" Z400=46"). I'm working on that too though. ;)

ive raced on two different predators before, the turning feature is nice...trust me :) BUT......when you are racing MX that weight factor will really get you, when you have jumps out of corners sometimes the predator just feels so heavy and like it can barely make stuff like that......... its a good all around quad, i definitely wouldnt use it just for mx, bc its too much on the heavy side and although it handles decent, its just a little off for MX....IMO

Agreed, I think they're a better woods/xc ride, than an mxer. Sixty-two pounds is just a little too much extra weight to be throwing around on an mx track. I would class it more with raptors, ds650's, etc. before I classed it w/ the new 450's. Its still just too much of a trail/sport quad.

dont worry about the weight unless your a smaller person. its not that big of deal. its got the power to pull it around good. and i think the suspension and turning is pretty dang good to. i know ill probally have people argue with me on this but id like to get some riders together that dont know the weight of the 450's and the predator and see what they think each one weighs. after riding them for a little bit, not loading em in back of a pick up. i would bet money they would say closer to 20 pounds, not 60. i dont really have a problem moving my predator around, but im not pro racer or anything. the weight would probally take its toll on you in some areas though. like when you get stuck, loading it up, or maybe even one of those 12 hour races. but anyways like i said it has the motor and supension for the weight so it suits me well. unless you weigh about 90 pounds, plan on doing some super whip/maybe 360 in a freestyle comp, or plan on making some kind of all out dragster out of it, i wouldnt worry about the weight. plus imagine how cool you will be when you smoke all your freinds through the woods on that fat pig.

yes my "ride report" was like it was bc i am a small person (5'6" and 115 lbs at most) i look like a little kid on a predator (check out my race pics i have some of me on a predator on there)
