those look pretty good.
Is there anybody that makes a hood where you can keep the lights underneath, for night trail riding?

If you want to keep the lights, keep the stock hood.
The whole point of replacing the hood is because you need to get rid of the lights.

well, I'd like to have something to cover the expensive lights when I race GNCC, but then be able to take off and use the lights when i go on weekend rides

The maier is easy to take on and off...doesnt take long at all. Maybe you could switch them out when you want your lights.

:( I LIKE THE SMOOTH HOOD AND YOU CANT HAVE GLASS WHEN RACIN THATS WHY PEOPLE GET THESE HOODS. DONT USE BOTTOM BOLTS ON HOODS USE THE PLUGS WITH INSERTS LIKE ON YOUR FENDERS DRILL OUT WITH 5/16" DRILL . USE BOLT ON TOPS THOUGH THIS WAY YOU CAN TAKE WHOLE HOOD OFF QUICK!

That kinda makes me mad, I just installed a plain maier hood. I like the second one best. With that big scoop there could maybe be enough room to install a small boondockers bottle under there.

I copied the idea from someone off this site. I don't remember who though. I can't bring myself to spend money on stuff like a hood or graphics kit when I need shocks, a-arms, linkage, etc... It doesn't take long at all. Just take off the lights, clean them up good with windex or something. Then just start running tape strips over them. It would probably be easier with the wide electrical tape. They even make different colored electrical tape.

well from a distance i bet you cant even tell its tape, but have you had any problems with dirt sticking to the edges or peeling?

The edges aren't peeling but I don't think I overlapped the tape far enough and it's starting to seperate a little. You can't notice unless you look close and I haven't had any dirt stick to it. I have eaten some roost with it too. I unplugged my lights under the hood also because if you turn them on accidentally you can't really tell and it would probably mess up the tape or lights from getting so hot.
