If you look on service honda or your service manual, you will find a VERY small spring. and they say there is a plunger as well.

Part number: 12126-KVZ-940 Spring/Plunger
another part there is called plunger, cam setting # 14125-KVZ-940

what is this for?

Necessary? ( I would assume yes)

I'm may of lost it durring the piston upgrade.

thanks.

if this post will be better in another fourm moderator go ahead and bump it. This is the best one I found.

the plunger is a little cylindrical piece of metal. it is probably a couple millimeters in diameter and maybe 1.5 centimeters long. it goes right into the head. the cam actually uses this piece. so, look for a little hole in the head where the decompression assembly is at on the cam. try going to www.servicehonda.com
click on oem parts and then click down to a 400ex. when that pops up click on cylinder head. it should show you everything your looking for.

the little spring goes below this plunger in the head. with many of the aftermarket cams, you don't use this spring and plunger. with some you do though.
