I got a problem with my 04 300ex. The thing will start but runs for a short time and you have to keep it at about half throttle, if you let off it it will idle for a couple of seconds and then die. If you go to restart it you have to punch the gas completly wide open constantly will cranking it and most the time it wont start back up unless you let it set and that doesn't always work

Is is stock or do you have mods?

Have you ever adjusted the valves?

had one do the exact same thing to me not too long ago, had to pull the carb off, take it apart and clean it real good then put a new plug in.

its only got a jet kit and k&n air filter. no i havent adjusted the valves, its only got about 50 hours on it.

It sounds like your jetting may be off. I would adjust the valves and check your plug. Make sure you check it with the engine warm. You may want to try a 40 or 42 pilot jet. It helps with cold starts. The 300ex's are lean from the factory and adding a free flowing air filter will make it even leaner.
