I'm not looking at doing any real fancy for TV or any chit like that. I've got a Canon Optura 40 Mini-DV camcorder and would like to be able to put my movies on my PC and edit them. What do I need and how much will it cost me?

Would have to check on that specific camera, but it should have a firewire port, you'll need a firewire cable, and if your pc doesnt have one, a firewire card for it. The software will let you "capture" or import the video from your camera, then edit it. :D

Pinnnacle Studios is really good for just your basic editing stuff. Your computer need a firewire port. It's kinda like a usb. If your computer doesn't have one I tihnk Pinnacle Studios sells them with there software.

Please tell me this is NOT for editing movies that have anything to do with stabbing beavers.

Actually, I want to practice editing home videos for a possible project at work I might take on.
And no, my PC doesn't have a Firewire port:mad: My dad's Mac G5 dual, 2.5gHz-processor has at least 2 Firewire ports that I can remember.
