After having my Camera not do so well for WORCS race Coverage:rolleyes: it was enough to make me decide to sell mine and upgrade to something better....Im so dissapointed in this camera...
I cant even use it for the indoor Winter series or I get this....

This is what I deal with alomost EVERY race!!Between the lighting, all the Exhaust and lack of speed from my Camera I end up with that .:(

What I am looknig for is another more up to date Digital Camera, something that doesnt have alot of that "delay" for action shots . I want something I can get a clean pic of Mud flingin, powersliding, sick air shots!:blah: But still remain on a budget. Harlen, if you read this ,could you please post me the info on that Cannon you told me about??? I want to get some god Coverage this winter. Thanks everyone!!! ;)

I have a Optio S I like it it takes good pictures and it fits in an altoids box so I can carry it around in my pocket or purse. I always have my camera with me.

I don't know if it's true or not , but I was told the best ones out there are Fugi cameras because they use diamond shape pixels unlike other cameras out there . So when you blow up a picture it doesn't have all the voids that most cameras do because the diamonds come together nicely .

I may be wrong ... if so someone correct me ..... but this is what I heard .

I'm gunna buy one sooner or later . I'm debating between a digital camera or a video camera that has the snap shot options .

Try some of the big photography stores, you can find some decent packages to get you in the door:

The Canon 300D (rebel) can be had for under $1k with 18-70 lens 1gb flash card.

A nikon D70 is about $1400 with an 18-70lens and 1gb card. both are +6 megapixel digitals. I prefer the Nikon.

Both are fullsize 35mm style cameras. For just a carry around snapshot camera I use a nikon coolpix 5700.

I bought a Fujifilm S7000 to replace my camera that got stolen... very happy with it, and you can buy lens accessories for it. I bought it off the internet for $400, saved almost $200 from local stores. I had a Fujifilm S3000 before, I liked it too, they sell for about $250 now.

I used to work at the digital camera counter at Best Buy...i'd say go with the Rebel if you've got 1,000 bucks, if not the Fuji S7000 is a good pick.

I just got a Olympus D-560 Zoom. its 3.2 megapixel i think and i can take some good action shots..... The secret to not get a delay with it is to hold the shutter button half way (not far enough to take a picture) and wait for a solid green light (only takes a second) if it flashes it still may be fine, but i like to get it solid. Then you just keep your finger there with it solid and whenever you want to take a pic just press it all the way down from the halfway point and bam instant picture....other wise you have to wait for it to focus and thats what causes the delay...I can show you some action pics i have taken if you want

It sounds like a real pain in the arse...Once you do it once or twice though its a piece of cake! I can get it up and rdy and take a picture very quick now!

The pics I took from Lorettas (in the racing section) were taken with a Sony DSC-S75 (<$300 now). It's a 3.3 megapixel digi, set the shutter to 1/800, and had to work with the timing and pan with the rider a lot. The ones from Paducah (in the GNC section) were taken with a rented Canon Dig Rebel, like what Harlen uses... it was a lot easier to take pics with, well worth the money.

QJ - there is an Olympus that was out awhile back(not sure if they still sell it new or not), before the D70 or the Digital Rebel that is sort of a compromise between a point and shoot and a full blown Digital SLR. It's a fixed lense, but much closer to a 35mm lense then a point and shoot in terms of quality and the amount of light it can take in (lens aperture). It's called the E-20N and there are several on eBay. a Good friend of mine had this camera before upgrading to the Cannon D100 and it took MUCH better shots then any digital point and shoot and it doesn't cost as much as the the D70 or Dig Rebel...
