I live in Iowa and all together do you know how much it would be for me to get my 400ex frame powder coated translucent blue...all said and done with shipping included?

Pappy

id say $250 would cover the frame and sub, and that includes return shipping. it usually runs about $32 to ship a frame to the mid west so $282 should be the total for you.

Pappy! Now like my side cover now with just factory finish get like scrathced and worn from my boot how long will a powder coat last??

Pappy
10-10-2004, 07:51 PM
it will last, but since it is a much finer finish you will notice scratches more if a gloss or candy color is used.

ive done some side covers that didnt have scratch on them when they got here and after they were pc'd and used they remained flawless. i geuss its safe to say that if your cases are all tore up now they will be that way if pc'd. the same would apply for chroming them also.

the 400ex has 2 flaws when it comes to keeping it looking good.

1. the frame rails follow the riders boots. this pretty much makes it almost impossible to keep the stock paint or pc from getting tore up in that area.

2. the left side cover and shifter are so close you cant help but rub them. an aftermarket shifter wont bow in as much as stock and can help prevent this somewhat.

my suggestion is to for-go the fancy colors and pick a color that is neutral and will show less damage.

How much does it cost for getting the side cases coated, without this special? Cause I'm going to boot camp next monday and I don't know if I have the time to get them off and ship them before I leave.

a stock swinger would be around $75

it really should be sanded down real well before you send it to knock off the texture formed when it was cast

we will be soon offering a new coating process using thermal coatings for cases, cylinders, heads etc. we are testing right now but it looks good so far!
