Go to a 16 tooth front sprocket, but you need to modify engine for more power to pull it! Stage 1 hotcam and good air filter with no lid or modified lid!

a stock engine will pull a 16 tooth im sure....just wont be as quick getting up to speed!

A cam would compliment that carb. A stg 2 hotcam would give more top end, a 16t front, or go down some teeth in the rear.

Going down teeth works as well...I think its like taking off 3-4 teeth on the rear is like adding 1 tooth on the front sprocket. I'm not positive though

i have a feeling that may actually slow you down. it would a mile to get to top speed. see how you like it. i ran 16/36 before and my 406 couldn't pull it. as a matter of fact, stock gearing worked best for me drag racing. over a 1/4 mile top end gearing may gain. my bike actually much slower with even 15/36 gearing than with stock. however, i will have a lot to do with what pipe you run, what tires you run, etc.

4 teeth out back is the same as 1 up front. try going to a 15 on the front(i think 400s came with a 14 up front didnt they?), this wont be much loss on the bottom, you just wont be able to pull the front end up in 3rd. get a top end ground cam. you should pick up a fair amount on that. and GIT SUM NAWWWZ YO!!!!! :macho

stock 400s have a 15t front. your bike should pull a 16t without any trouble

a 2.5 teeth change in the rear equals 1 tooth up front. stock 400ex gearing is 15/38.
