chain problem

i just got a laeger's +1 1/8 swinger and im putting the chain on right now but am having some trouble. its a new chain so i need to break it but the problem is that when i go to line it up it is either too long or too short. when its on the right spot the right part of the link is not lined up with the other (i think that made sense).

i've tried the way to tight and way to lose with the chain adjuster in every position with no luck.

any tricks i don't know or am i looking over something?

Put the adjuster all the way in and cut the chain to where u can install it. If you cant get out the slack with the adjuster then take out another link
