were going to get a kicker going soon for a project in welding. take a look at the plans and see what you think.

we want to do the whole thing in 1x1 (.120 thick) square tubing, you think that will work fine? thanks, and any input would be appricatied

if its gonna be 7 ft tall id atleast make it 18 ft long my ramp is only 5.5 ft tall and its 12 ft long yours would be a very steep ramp if it was 7 ft tall and 13 ft long otherwise looks pretty good you may want to pm jason1 on here he owns alloy industries and knows his stuff when it comes to ramps

i talked to jason last night, thats why this ramp is so short. i had a design for a 6ft ramp that was 15ft long. he said it was way to stretched out, and the more flat parts of the ramps are unessecary. where i am putting this ramp is slightly uphill anyways so it will be perfect. jason's 5ft ramp he made for someone was only 8-9ft long.

*edit* screw that, i dont think thats a good idea having such a short transition, just like i thought to begin with, im going to go with an 18ft design.

i wouldnt make it from 1x1, not good

my ramps i build that are 8+' ft tall... NOT counting the fold down piece in the front are only 15 1/2' long and are smooth as silk... a 7 ft tall one certainly sould be shorter.

wont hurt anything.. just more money, hassle, and weight

What size would you reccomond then? I too plan on making a metal ramp soon...

how far of a gap from the ramp to the dirt are yall planing to have because 45 degrees is pretty steep there is an up hill jump out here at a place i ride and we are about 95% sure that it is alittle more than 45 degrees and well it feels like it throws you straight up because you go really high and actually not very far at maybe 15 long but about 6-7 feet (bottom of tires) high well i was j/w because that looks pretty steep but i guess it is a kicker and not a ramp

yep thats another thing to worry about... fitty ramps are much steeper and shorter but the bike is much much smaller, a full size bike you gotta watch how steep you make it vs its heigth vs. length.

and i wouldnt ever make a full size ramp out of anything less than 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 , even if yo use thicker stuff its still smaller material which does make a difference. only way i would say 1x1 would be alright is if it were solid square bar, but no.1 whos gonna do that ? and no.2 you would still have to build it to a certain structure cuz its still 1x1 and it will still flex under certain lengths. but once it gets to a certain point it will be solid as a rock. i personally suggest 2x2 for full size ramps.... cant beat it. im in the process to slowly switching my ramps to fully using only 2x2 for the whole shabang.
