Where can I get a carb. for a 87 honda trx250x. Stock or aftermarket is fine.

This is my brothers quad and I want him riding again so let me know.

you could actually put a used 400ex carb on it. you should be able to pick one up for $75 or so.

I have a used 400ex carb I could sell you if you're interested. I bought it to try on my 250x, but I ended up having a problem with a different part of my bike. I also have the carb-to-airbox boot for it as well. Let me know if you're interested.

By the way does anyone know the difference in these two carbs( what size?)

My brothers engine has been built so he probably does need a better carb than stock.

Are they including the boot for that $75 price? The carbs are almost identical, except for the size. You can't use your stock boot with the 400ex carb though, because the rear bore is larger.

SORRY but I have to disagree w/ the boot, I'm using my stock 300 boot, if you heat it up a little in some boiling water then put it on right away it does fit :) you will have to get a bigger clamp though whats that........a buck or 2?? As for sizes the 400 is just a few mm bigger! I can't remember right off the top of my head the sizes of both but I'll check it out if you need it or someone else maybe knows it off the top of thier head :)

the stock 400ex carb is 35.5mm at the smallest opening inside the carb. i am not too sure the size of the 250x carb.

It should work good then because he has bumped up the compression and upgraded a few other engine parts.
