Hi,
some time ago, I had my tires mounted by some guys at a ... "tire place" but the tire didn't cover the whole rim, they are like half-mounted, and yesterday I looked on TV that some guys put gas on the border of a half-mounted tire like mine and then burnt it, and suddenly the tire moved to the outer line of the rim and was perfectly mounted.
Does this also work on atv rims??

Here's a pic of mine, it's hard to see but if you ever mounted a tire you'll know what I'm talking about :D

I think they had one side seated, adn the other side wasn't at all and then they put some gas in the tire and the explosion seats the bead. It's a sudden burst of air. My dad did this a long time ago, so I can't remember exactly what he did, but that's the general idea.

ive heard it can work on big truck tires and mabe quads but to be honest i wouldnt try it unless you have a way of doing it while you are real far away because that can get realy ugly if messed up

maybe I'll have to do it the right way :o

ny300exrider, I'm very used to "play" with gas, I've done a lot of chit with my bro:devil: , it may seem stupid but if you see the videos I'm sure you'll laugh..by the way, how's the blaster doing??

yes it works on quad tires, and ive seen it done with good old starting fluid

starting fluid or eather spray around the bead and a little in the the tire then spray a straight line going from the tire on a concrete floor the line is your fuse light and stand back might take a couple trys we do it all the time with quad tires and sprint car tires

Yes it will work but it only costs around $10 to have a tire mounted. It will cost much more than that for a doctor to reattach your arm if it doesn't go well.:eek2: :blah:

So, no gas, only starting fluid or that eather spray.. I'll have to do it on the both sides of the wheel because it isn't well mounted on both sides.. correct?

USING THE EATHER OR STARTER SOME TIMES DOESN'T WORK AS WELL AS PUTTING A TIE STRAP AROUND THE TIRE AND USING AIR PRESSURE TO SEAT THE BEAD ON THE RIM YOULL NEED A BIG COMPRESSER AND THE TIE STRAP IS TO KEEP THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE FROM STRECHING THATS THE BEST WAY BUT NOT AS COOL A THE FIRE

Yes, do what TRX450R suggests, using the tie down strap. Also, soap the hell out of the beads so they'll pop right on.

I always use wd-40 or a similar lube on the beads, never have any problems, in fact most of them set around 20 to 25 lbs, well under the max. I've seen the ether method used and it can be dangerous if not done properly.
