I thought this was the CDI because it says CDI right on it but as I've found out the CDI is the little black box up by the front. When I was riding this peice broke what the cam sprocket dicided to taco. Can't figure out what it is called or how much it fix it. It's beyond repair(tried welding it already, bad idea). Can somebody tell me the name of this thing?

Does that part look expensive, if it's more than $30 I guess a hammer and a tube of RTV blue will fix it.

What exactly does that thing do? I think it's like a ditributer you can move the point in it farther up or back and it adjust the spark timing. It better not be expencive I got about 80 bucks into this 85 atc200s and I've only got 2 years of riding out of it.LOL. I don't need the cover that parts fine I just need the main piece that has the point attached to it.

It's not a starter I will tell you that, I think it's a ditributor, that's the best I can call it.

This is the best pic I could find to show what it is.

i meant STARTOR and starter. it looks like the plate that holds the stator in place.

i bet if you take that off then you can just pull the cam out...thats just a speculation though...the stator is down in the case by the fly wheel i think

Yep if you take it all off the cam will pop right out. It's not just a cover tho, there is a magnet that connects to the end of the camshaft and spins inside of it, to tell it when to fire I suppose. That's how you adjust the timing on it by moving the point forward or back inside that thing.

The stator, the piece with the magnet is also known as the flywheel and magneto. The piece you circled on the trike is a cam cover. Hope that clears things up.

In that pic everything except the cam and cam sprocket go inside of that part. Yes, it is a cover for the cam but there's also alot of stuff inside of there that does stuff. The magnet goes on the end of the camshaft and rides inside of that part. The point mounts on top of it, to tell cdi when the cylinder is at top dead center I suppose. It's not just a cam cover. If I take it off I get no spark.

HEY..I'VE TOLD YOU TEN TIMES IT'S A STATOR PLATE
