My son has been riding atv's for about a year and has the itch to race.I am wondering what some of you who have gone through this would recommend us to buy and why. A trx 90 or LT 80?

Its a matter of time before you get an onslaught to replies... I'll have to say an LT80 since the kid doesn't have to worry about shifting, they are tough as nails, and can be modded to be very strong. The downside to the LT is the suspension. I've got works on our LT with a little extra travel and it does fine. However, it is still less that 4" of travel.

My vote would be for the trx90. They can be made to keep up with the 2strokes. For the shifting issue if the kid already has atv experience I would start to teach him/her the shifting now...it's really not as tough as you might think.

First thing I'd do before buying the Honda is make sure my kid could start it. For an older child, like 10+, I think the trx90 would be great. I don't think the pull start or gears would be much of an issue. For a younger child, I would want the electric start and cvt.

But everybody's child is different.

I have had great luck with the reliability of my kids LT-80's although there is no place locally for them to race quads. I have a blast riding the LT myself since it must be the worlds greatest wheelie machine.

Question:.....why are you limiting yorself to the two quads mentioned? I recently bought a Kasea and I am very impressed with the quality of the machine, not to mention there is a ton of aftermarket upgrades for it. The LT80 and Honda are good choices but you can get more bang for your buck with the Kasea on the purchase price and cost to uprgade. What part of the country are you in???

something to think about if you plan to modify the trx

we bought a used trx, just didn't make (cents)to buy new since we changed shocks,tires,rims,a-arms,swing-arm,gears,chain,carb,most of the internal motor,etc..............

make sure you check the frame for welds, bent parts,warped,etc.....since anymore this is about all that is left (frame) after months or years of upgrades.

where are you guys out of dodge 1 ton?
