i was just wondering what everyone does at work when i came across this picture i took on my phone of my buddy when we where hard at work. yes we are custodians, but its not that bad. i get a whole bunch of cool free stuff. paper towels, TP, soap, i can pull my truck up to the outside closet door and fill'er up with window cleaner with the fast pump deal we have, tools, shop rags, and we dont work to hard really.

that machine in the picture started smoking later that day. we said we had no clue what it could be to our boss.:D

I've been told all I do is sit on my butt all day at work and play on the internet. I wonder if they where lying about me or slightly telling the truth.

Whats the fun in that? Why work when you can play and get paid to do it? I have two jobs and I have as much fun at both of them. I work for Best Buy part time during the evenings. I have as much fun in there if not more than the people who come in to play with all our stuff.

Because I want a good recomendation.
It's not like I'm working with all kinds of ppls or am on a pc all day. In the late summer I do work with a crew, so I can talk and joke around alot (which is fun), winter I do x-mas tree's and maple syrup, so the x-mas tree part I'm by myself, and the maple syrup part I'm with my boss who is like 55, then early summer I do x-mas tree's again, but diff part of it, which still, I'm by myself. Then whenever my boss needs me to do chores, he gives me a call the night before. And their like cleaning, yard work, anything like that. It's all with the same boss though, so yea. But see...its hard to have fun when most of it is by yourself and its more "labour" type work:p

Well... I'm a legal receptionist/secretary at a law office, so.... yeah I sit on my arse, but it gets really busy here. With 7 attorney's to answer the phones for, you can imagine. Filing, making copies, taking payments, phones, plus clients in and out all day. arghhh....believe me sometimes I don't have time to wipe my arse, which really sucks when I DO have to sit on it all day, (insert cheesy drum roll here)

There are dead times, like now, lol which explains the reason I am posting and why I am telling bad jokes :blah:

I feel your pain then Tegan. I have not held a job like that, usually I've been able to play while I work in some fashion or form. My bosses have always been very easy and not strict. I think my job at Best Buy has the hardest bosses though. Sometimes I'll get told not to be doing something but they just want the store to look good and not like a bunch of goof-offs you know. Other than that, I generally goof-off all the time but yet get all my work done as well. If you can't have fun doing what you do, find something else to do.

I would hate doing that! I don't answer my phone 99.9% of the time. We have a display system so we know who is calling us from what extention. I do ignore to a certain degree but I also don't "sit" at my desk like most people think. I do have my dead times or the times I make to get on here and post responses. Speaking of which, I need to finish what I was doing.

My boss is extremely nice, like one of the more nicer ppls I've met before. But I just want to do a good job, cuz it's the only job I can even get around here (only 2 other places which are stores and I've applied so many times and they don't even consider giving me an interview....). But my job just gets boring cuz like I said, most of the time I'm by myself. Or if there are helpers there, they're doing their own things, like I may be whipper snippering, they may be in 1 of the buildings straightening up stuff. But also my boss is a close family friend, so he does give me a lil slack over the other ppls:blah: Also being a gurl, he usually gives me jobs that are a lil easier then some of the others (which he gives guys). So thats fine with me:cool:

Thats good that you at least aren't being the mule of the bunch and have to do the hard stuff. Why do the other stores not even consider interviewing you? You aren't too young are you? I didn't think you where, just from reading all the millions of other posts and boards.

I'm 17. I don't really know why really.

Like 1 of the stores (The Co-op)...my parents spend easily $300 a week there on groceries. We've been part of the co-op for like 20 some years, and my grandparents spend nearly the same amt and they've been customers there for even longer then that. But the manager is my "aunt in law" if there's such a thing. Her sister is married to my uncle. And she doesn't like my side of the family.
And like I applied here the other week when 11 ppls just suddenly quit cuz of college n stuff and they were extremely low in staff and they were lookin for ppls really badly, and guess who didn't get hired?

The the other store..we don't really know why he won't hire me. Both stores I'm like 5 min drive away. And this place is the Pharmasave...but it doesn't bug me as much cuz I've heard by alot of ppls he's an *** anyways. But everytime I applied mom would ask for a reason and I'd apply when they were "despertly looking" for ppls, and every time he'd fob off with an excuse.

Mom used to think it was because they tried givin the jobs to welfare kids n stuff, and they just assumed we have alot of extra money (ppls think that cuz we work hard for our things we own, which is alot of nice stuff...) but that turned out false as soon as 1 of the gurls who had the richest parents in my school got hired:huh

Oh well, that's how life goes:rolleyes: Mom doesn't shop at those places very often anymore. If she needs something at the Pharmasave, she'll wait until the next time she's out somewhere and she see's a diff one, and so much for the co-op, she usually goes to Superstore now about 30 mins away. She's sour big time ha

Thats sucks Tegan! I bet I know the reason why though, they see this beautiful girl come in and they don't want to be tempted! Haha...

I take it you live in a fairly small town? I don't live in a large town but it's big enough to have a lot of placed to work. My job at Best Buy was like pure luck getting. I applied so many times and it's one of the hardest places to get a job too. Too many people want to work there! I just so happen to know they had lost someone (co-workers son) and I applied and got a call the next day. I was very happy!

I had a friend that was good at doing stuff like that. I think he went to college a little while to major in it as well. He's a bum now. So much talent with very little drive. Totally sad and pathetic in my opinion. Stick with it and I know you'll make tons of money!

Yup, very small town. 2 stores, 1 pizza shop (family owned so they don't hire outside of their family), 1 resturant (which wants house wifes cuz their used to stuff like that). Then there's a mill that will hire guys and maybe gurls, but I don't feel like even bothering there. Then I volenteer at a theatre thing that holds movies, plays, music events etc on most sundays and whenever they need me for shows n such.

I thought I lived in a small town! I actually live outside of town and we have more than you do! It gets better once you move around a little. Small towns suck but also have their own advantages. I prefer living right outside of a city cause of the distance but sometimes it is a irritation cause I have to drive so far to go to the store. I am lucky though, my day job is only 2 minutes from my house. My other job is 15 minutes from the house though.

I went to 4 different colleges. My first one was a community college and it sucked sooo bad. All the people there went to high school together and I didn't go to their high school. I was an outsider. The next college I went to was expensive and full of geeks and nerds. Their idea of fun was to sit and play Counterstrike on the school network. Not fun to me! I then went to another community college, just like the one before but at least I knew people and was accepted. Finally (too much college) I went to a university that was actually fun and had some really cool people. Draw back was they got budget cuts from the state and stopped offering a lot of the classes locally for me so I stopped going. I'm taking off right now for a little while, 7 years of college is tiring while you work and go to school full time.

I'm an assistant manager for an aftermarket parts and accessories store that deals with Snowmobile , ATV and Motorcycle stuff . I sit in an office most of the day and enter stuff into computers .... create purchasing orders , creating customers orders , evaluating inventory , running progress reports , speaking with suppliers and going out for 3 hour lunches with suppliers every few weeks to see what kind of "new" products are comming out .

I also look over a staff of 10+ people , arrange payroll and am incharge of hiring and dismissals . I do deal with the public 25% out of my day and set up displays and put inventory away.

I love my job ..... when everything is done and there isn't much to do during slow seasons we usually slap a movie in the dvd player and sit in the office and watch through our one way glass . Perks of the job

In college, my computer classes sucked. I would play games and stuff and my teacher would get so pissy at me. I would tell her that I was a computer technician (which I am) and that I already did my work and then I would get up and leave. Man does that piss off a teacher!

I've had classes where I would just get up and leave and the teacher would stare at me. I always wanted to just scream at them and say you suck arse and leave but never could get the nerve to do it.
