get a horse if u wanna ride....i think you can ride a mule but it would suck, and no you dont have to shoe a mule if your not gonna ride it...i think taking care of them would be the same...feeding,brushing, spending time with it....that answer anything:p

My aunt and uncle own quarter horses. And show them. They are awsome horses, they cost like 50 grad for one horse though:eek2: I bet a mule would be cheaper too. This is quote the randome thread.

it depends on what you want to do with it... not all quarter horses are 50 grand...thats just the ones that show or event really well at the top levels, like rolex in kentucky. Quarter horses are really well-mannered and are really good for working. I've seen them as cheap as 1,000 bucks. You dont necessarily have to shoe a horse, but if they tear up a foot you could be out of commission for a while...

A mule will probably be cheaper and wont need nearly as much attention as a horse would...but they're stubborn as hell. What do you want to do with it?

i guess ill post a pic of my horse for the hell of it. She's an appendix quarter horse (quarter horse- thouroughbred mix) and i event with her.

I had 2 horses, a 21 year old quarter horse and a 26 year old arabian. They were both EXTREMELY good horses. Never had a mule, but the ones i've seen are b!tches

26 year old arabian

we had a 26 year old arabian get struck by lightning about 4 weeks ago. killed it instantly. my step mom went histarical, it was her first horse ever and she bought him at age 2. and i know horses get really expensive. my uncle team ropes and he has around 40 horses. he ropes the george straight open every year and his buddy sold a heelin horse to george straight for a little over 100k. my uncles brother made it to the NFR last year and i think took 3rd, but him and his partner own the world record time.

I would say maintenence is the same on both. I think the good thing about mules is they are sure footed and do well in the mountains. I own a Quarter Horse and do reining and working cow horse. I love em. :D
