Does anyone have pictures or directions on how to raise the airbox on a 450r to work with the GT Thunder rear link. On the website it says to raise the box 1/4"

Hate to trial and error something like this - if someone can give me suggestions I would appreciate it greatly.

thanks
Carson

Houser makes a air box "lift kit".Raises the box about 3/8 of an inch.

I was told by gtthunder to use zipties - any ideas of how that would work?

I personally wouldn't chance it. If the zip ties break the airbox could fall off.

bill - are you running their lifter? any idea of what it looks like - all I see on their website is a kit for the z400.

thanks

get the real big zip ties, the ones that are about 1/8 to a 1/4 inch wide. Ive always used zip ties for my airboxes. The plastic tabs always break on the airboxes over time.

norris - do you cut holes in the box, or where do you put the zip ties? not seeing it:confused2

i didnt really see anyway to zip tie it, i just drilled new holes below the stock mounts on the airbox, and used the stock mounts on the frame.

Just put my new GT Thunder linkage on and cut my stock skid plate for clearance. Didn't see any mention on the paperwork about raising the airbox. I do woods riding with stock rear tires. How do you know what linkage you got - Didn't think I was supposed to get the one that needed the airbox raised.?? Don't want to crush the bottom of my airbox on a decent sized jump!

If you have his link you need to raise the air box 3/8".
I rivoted some thin aluminium to the inside of my air box and cut new holes and installed the rubber grommets and all hardware in place.

They use the zip tie method on Brandons race bike and never had any problems but it just didnt sound good to me. Bolting is fail proof and if I crack my box well then I'll buy another be cheaper than the carb coming off and sucking dirt.
