pipe, filter, make sure it's jetted right

You can change your sprockets. If you want more acceleration, your gonna have to sacrafice some top speed.

If you want some good power, its gonna cost ya.

i have a pipe filter and it's jetted. I was thinkin more along the lines of engine work.

try a higher compression piston, it'll give you a little more power, i wouldnt go past a 11:1 though, 11:1 is about the border limit on compression without losing much reliability and you wont have to run race gas with it either.

300's come stock with 11:1 compression. would just an aftermarket piston improve performance? how much do they cost?

That's a no go!! 300ex's have around 8.9-1 if I remember right but it definitely isn't even close to 11-1.

i just checked the honda website (where ithought i read it) and it doesn't even say anything about compression anymore, i'm probably wrong, sorry guys. anyhow, would getting a higher compression piston sacrafice engine reliability? how much do they cost? is there anyhting else involved?

the pistons are normally around $120. if you stay around 10.5:1 compression, the reliability will be great still. you will want to add a cam with this piston to get more out of it. the cam will add quite a bit too.
