Main Jet baffle?

What does the little plastic baffle do around the main jet? Is it needed? Can I tune the carb without it?

not really all that sure as to what its for but you can go without it, i left mine out when my ex was still a 400 ( before i put the 440 kit and everything else on) and it ran fine with no problems.

I believe it keep the fuel level around the main jet stable. When you are bouncing around, the fuel is too. This little baffle keeps the fuel from sloshing away from the main jet.
