what do you guys feel would be the best used bike at a very low price to get one of my friends into atv/dirtbike riding. he's all pysch'd up about me getting a quad because him, me and another friend use to mud bog in our 4x4s, but that died when college came and gas prices shot to the moon. but im sure he will want a bike after our friend gets tired of us trying to borrow his blaster and/or honda 80(dirtbike)

this friend isnt into speed, so i was thinking of like a blaster or a warrior, but those are still kinda pricey. also it doesnt need to keep up with my quad or anything, as my friend is into trailriding/mudding and we'd probably switch bikes during rides anyways

last resort is to cruise to my neighbors house and see if he will resale the old dirtbike he has and never uses. my dad bought it for 75bucks and fixed it, but then sold it back because he was never able to ride it. its an old honda 250

A used 400EX. If you buy anything else (smaller), your going to buy something bigger down the road and your just wasting your money.

Yeah, you can pick one up for about 3000-3500 depending on the mods.

Actually I've seen NEW 400EX's go for around 3500-4000. A good used 400EX can be had for 2500-3000....

You can always look around on atvtraderonline.com and find something in there...

I would stick with a Honda though...if he likes to ride more sporty find a 400 ex if he likes more trail riding find a Rancher.

Where did you see a NEW 400EX for 3500? If I can get one for that cheap then I'm going to sell my 300.

my dealership for one, hopefully. they have their EXs at a make your best offer price, so im gonna offer 3 next time i go and see what they say

actually im thinking older quads like mid 80s to early 90s for this friend. trying to go fairly cheap, especially when speed means nothing to this friend, its just about trail riding

If speed means nothing, and he just wants to trail ride, get a older warrior. They are pretty much bulletproof, and they can be bought cheap. I have seen then around here 800 to 1000 a lot of times. Just keep a look out.

I'd say a Warrior or 300ex. They are both fairly inexpensive and highly reliable. With a few mods they can be pretty quick in the trails too. They are probably 2 of the best trail quads available IMO.

if u can find one in good shape, 250xs are pretty good quads...just like the 300ex but they are kick start, the 250x was my first race quad

I would say a 300ex/250x, or a rancher or old honda fortrax 300. Those old fortrax quads are bulitproof, and will last forever with basic maitinence.

I'd say a 250X that is in decent shape would be good.

They're cheap..,run about forever..,have reverse.., they go about anywhere..,you can go pretty fast on 'em. They're easy to work on.., and you can also add a few mods to wake them up alittle when he becomes a better rider.

If he's leaning more towards a utility.., then some of the bikes mentioned before are good.

a used 400ex, ive heard of people picking them up from 1-3000 all the time, not beat either they just have really low resale thats all, you can find them cheap and in good shape a 300ex would be good too or a 250x but id just go for the 400ex

remeber dont get him something that will hinder him from riding with the other machines on trails

Ummm come out to PA and look for the left over 2003-2004 400EX's... dealers want to get rid of them because of the 450R and NEW 400EX.

If you pay over $4000 for an older "NEW" 400EX your getting rip'd off...
