I know the can says no sanding required, but will it help if I go ahead and sand? What grit should I use? 400?

It does help if you sand or you can use a special spray on "sandpaper"(I can't remember the name). I wouldn't recommend using the Krylon Fusion though. My step-dad works for Rubbermaid and they did extensive testing on the Fusion paints with very poopr results. I also tried it on a plastic chain guard on my kids quad. I sanded with 220 grit before painting and the stuff came off in big pieces the first wash. I didn't even use high pressure just a regular garden hose.

if you do a search on " Krylon Fusion " you will find that most people didn't have very good luck with that stuff. ;)

I have done a lot of reading here and other places and it seems split on opinion on this paint. I think the important part is you need to wait a week until the paint is fully dried. I am using it on an old ATC 250sx so it’s worth a try before I pay 125 for new rear plastic.

If you can wait a while for it to dry totally, like a few days it works good, but quad plastic is really hard to paint and keep it looking good. Your first ride it will be totally ruined.
