head pipe gaskets

is it necessary to replace the headpipe gaskets on a 01 400ex after removing the head pipe?or should i just do it?

Just replace them there only $5 a peice and if you don't you'll probably end up with an exhaust leak

Once you crush them, they don't seal as well.

Yes it is wise to do so as you will get an exhause leak and as said above they are 5 bucks. With an exhaust leak right there up front I would be more concerned when you shut your engine off as with a leak if it can get out it can get in, and the air outside is much cooler than that of the parts in engine and more importantly you can ruin your valves from an exhaust leak.
