I am rebuilding my 91 250x and i was wondering how much of a difference boring out the cylinder would make. I have been looking through some different sites and dennis kirk has a .5 and a 1, that is a huge difference from rockymountain which has a .02 and .04. I would like to get some more power out of it but i don't want to sacrifice reliability. Does anyone know of a decent sized bore that will add power without blowing up on me?

to be pretty reliable i would go with a .020 or .040 over and a 10:1 compression pitson , the reliablity really comes from the compression you have behind it , and if you have a little extra cash to play with i would definetly buy a cam to spice it up as well .

just my 2sense ,

A year ago I went with the .020 12:1 wiseco in my motor rebuild. Trust me this thing will not blow up, I have run this thing harder than any motor deserves and it has taken every bit of it.

Most of the dependability of a motor depends on the little things done when the engine is being built, the quality of parts used, and the maintanence of the motor!

I'm running 12:1 @ .50 over and I was concerned about reliability as well. Mine starts on the 1'st kick the majority of the time, and takes one hell of a beating. Can't really run pump gas anymore though.. thats the only down side I've seen so far.
