provides a very smooth suspension action, You will rarely ever feel a square edge bump make it to your handlebars with the pro-trax and a good suspension setup. By far the best front end I have ever used.

Interesting. How come this setup isn't more common:confused:

Because it's too expensive and really doesn't do anything that a regular front end can't do.

Basically it never binds, but any well designed front end will not bind until after the shock bottoms anyway.

It was good on the 250R, it corrected many of the stock frames deficencies, but the new quads aren't using 250R geometry anymore.

It was good for it's time, but it's aging now.

If money were no object I thats what I would put on my 450R no question. I think Walsh, Roll Design, Houser, ARS/FX will give you a comparable ride for about half the price. :D leager just takes it over the top with their spindle setup. Which is what drives the cost up so much. But it takes your ride quality from a 9 to a 10 or even higher.

There are a lot of things people believe when it comes to front end stuff & there is a lot of smoke and mirrors out there. Mostly because front end setup is a mystery to many.

Be aware that there are a lot of expensive setups out there that don't gain you any real world advantage. Also bear in mind that just because your favorite Pro runs a product doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best or offers some huge advantage. Your favorite pro is fast because he's talented and practices & trains a lot - not because he runs a "name brand" front end (which he likely didn't pay for).

I do. It was designed for and solved a problem inherent to the 250R frame that it was designed for. It did the trick there, but the YFZ frame isn't the same nor is the 450R.

Is it a bad product? No. Are there better? Depends on your opinion.

Yes, suspension is smoke and mirrors, and what "feels good" may not be doing the right thing.

But someone tell me what the advantage is to having the Pro Trax front end over a ball joint or king pin front end? Through the range of motion that the shocks allow, nothing.

The only advantage I can see is the intimidation factor to the guy sitting next to you on the line --- that and the lighter wallet (you go faster with a lighter wallet, right  )

the t pin is the only true long travel front end on the market

the rest of the front ends are considered long shock
EVEN though they are called long travel they are not

find some one who still has a t pin front end and ride it

you'll see a difference but unless you are a pro am rider youll never get the benefits out of it versus saving your self 1000 dollars

jones ran a t pin until he switched to an axis front do solely to paid indorsements(hitt ran a t pin too until the switch)

five years ago before walsh really was big 90% of all pros ran
a laeger front end

thanks 450ex you are 110% correct
jones went from 1st on a laeger bike to 4th on a yammie axis , First ball joints , bend break and are only designed to work on limited angles , kingpins are far stronger than ball joints but still wear out and fail! the Laeger setup eliminates these problems. Then we have the spindle issue , before i switched to protrax frontends i broke 4 spindle shafts in my Expert season , when that happens you ruin the spindle, hub, caliper, rotor, and brake line about a $500 deal , now 4 times thats a T pin . i have been running them now for 5 years and never broken a thing ! The peace of mind of knowing your parts won't fail when your jumping 80 to 110 ft are well worth the extra $600 for bulletproof parts! If you look at the walsh parts, he makes his on spindles as well for $750 now $1267 for arms and $250 for a stem your looking at just under $2300 , My whole point here is you end up saving money in the long run with the T pin setup and you will never have to worry about getting picked off the ground when your front end fails 5th gear wide open on a 110ft uphill triple!!!! Thanks
