I'm almost done with my 300/350 conversion and i can't get my 350 to kick over. It doesn't have the compression release cable, but i was curious if i could still start it or if i'm wasting my time. Anybody have any tricks for startin a 350. I'm gonna look for a compression release cable on ebay.

They can be a bear to start, thats the one thing I hated about my old 350x. Make sure you give it a soild kick, anything less won't do it. If you can't get it going by kicking you could have someone pull you around with another quad.

Check for a good spark,Check to make sure it is getting gas,and that the carb is clean and adjusted right,Check to make sure it is in time and the rockers are adjusted right.
they will start with out the compression release cable i dont have one on mine, but make sure the lever on the head is not stuck up holding the valves open.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies guys, i got a spark, but i don't know that it's enough. I'm gonna try a new plug and see if that does anything.

That didn't do it either, guess i'll have to get the compression release cable and eat some more steak and potatoes.

My uncle used to get his started by moving the decomp. and slowly pushing it past the compression. Once it was a little past tdc, he let off the decomp, and gave it a good solid kick. Started right up.:)

Well, i got the compression release cable, and it still won't start. Is the cable supposed to pull up on the compression lever when i kick on the starter??

Yes
The cable is not needed for it to run i dont run one it just makes it easyer to kick the cable pulls on the lever that pushes open the exhaust valve some to let off some comp.
