cracked frames

ive read in numerous magazines about swingarms and subframes cracking on the 400ex. i take mine apart reguarly and inspect,but ive not seen anything . does any body know exactly where to look?

Look around the welds, these are the highest stress area on your frame. A steel tube will usually bend where there is no welds (like on the middle of them) and tend to crack more around the welds.

If you Strip your 400EX down a lot to look for Cracks I would just have it Gusseted. Then you won`t have to worry about Cracks.

what does gusseting a frame actually involve doing, I have never heard of someone gusseting a frame?

Gusseting is adding (welding) additionnal steel to the high stress area of the frame.
