There will be a noticable difference. You will see the differnce in the tight turns and when you have to start a hill climb right at the bottom. I like it better. :)

See ya Bc

and if your in 5th gear topping out it will feel like 4th gear topping out...its a sacrifice

i really like it, but i hit the races up the sand hills, and its just not enough at the top of the hill. so as soon as i find it, im going with a 13 tooth front. but its mostly a sand bike, and i dont need the top.

I used it for awhile and it really made 1st gear too low for me. When I went with the XR cam and the 11 to 1 piston, I went back to stock. I like it!

I don't believe they make a 13t front sprocket for the 400EX, you will have to go up 2 teeth in the rear sprocket to get the same effect.

I love my 14t sprocket, and now that I have 18" tires...wow, no top end at all but does that thing take off quick!

i ran a 14 tooth out in the dunes and liked it alot. but when i came back and tried it with my 18" klaws i hated it went back to my 15-39 setup

lift the bike so that the swing arm droops, undo the 2 bolts on the sprocket, and slide it off. to put another size back on, you will have to move the carrier (or whatever it is that moves for adj.)front or back. put the sprocket on the chain and slide it back onto the countershaft sprocket.

BTW what size is the rear sprocket stock on '00

I'm running a 14/F and 36/R and I ride primarily in the dunes. I'm able to get 2nd gear starts off the line with this setup.

It does great up the hills and I don't have any complaints. I haven't tried putting my stock 38/r with the 14t to see what kinds of results I would get.

foleyit....is that pretty close to stock gearing then? down in the front and down in the rear. doesnt that cancel each other out?

well hopefully before season starts, i can get some new sprockets.

does the 300ex and the 400 share the same countershaft sprocket? hmmmm

yeah bigbad it is pretty close to stock. I'm not sure on the 300 and 400ex countershaft if they are the same.

On my 400ex when I played with a 16t I didn't need to get a new chain it fit just fine, and the quad was new so the chain wasn't stretch any.

installing a sprocket is easy as cake...loosen 4 allen bolts on the back of swingarm......put allen key through the rear sprocket into the bearing holder & pull quad backwards when in neutral to loosen chain....remove front sprocket with 12mm socket...put new sprocket on & retighten chain by pushing quad forward with allen key back in there...takes me about 5 minutes to do & i change mine alot

Personally i think you will like the stock better unless u do a lot of very tight woods riding. I got one for mine and accelleration in a drag race was the same as stock gearing. JMO.

I run a 13-tooth front spocket, I do alot of trail riding and hill climbing. The biggest difference is climbing hills I can usally climb in 2nd and 3rd with no problem. It's best for going over trees and ditches where you can just idle over alot of stuff instead of killing the motor all the time like most quads that I ride with. It runs real well with all quads until you reach the middle of 5th gear and then they start pulling away from you but then how fast can you go until the next turn. This gear is great for my conditions I ride in and it gives BIG bottom end toque. I also have a Quicksilver carb which made a big difference. So to sum this all up it really depends on the conditions you ride in. Oh yea 660 Raptors are not very fast

stock chain works well with the 16 tooth on the 400ex ;)
