Just about all of them are the same cdi box, just different stickers on them.

Gt Thunders are one of the few exceptions.. they give you the extra rpms, and a slight timing advance .. and it will start as easy as it does now.

All the re badged cdis are hard to start, because u need the motor to spin fast before it will spark.. gt thunder I dont think has that problem.

Or if you want the very best ther Dyna FS is probably it but it cost $300

they are hard to start partially because they are all re-boxed xr250 cdi's. gthunder is the only exception, it was built by laz for the 400ex, not another re-boxed honda part

Magnum and Big Gun both sart easily at any temp. stay away from
factory Honda XR250r boxes.
Basicly 2boxes (all are built everseas)
Sparks WB etc. (factory Honda repackaged)

I had the white bros on my 400ex and it was a POS, if the quad sat for a few days or if the battery was drained just a hair the quad wouldn't start without a jumpstart.

I have in my possesion a couple of prototype cdi's for the 450r and the one doen't start very good either. It wants to backfire when you kick it over a lot more often, I think they have the timing a little to advanced on that one. The other box kinda cut out in mid to high RPM. If they get either one of these boxes squared away they should be impressive from what I could tell with my testing.

i have had great luck with the gt thunder box. the sparks was hard to start. the gt thunder definately made the throttle response more crisp too. i guess that is because it advances the timing along with raising the rev limit.
