How old is your clutch, springs and basket on you 250r. I know if my clutch is not adjusted properly its kind of hard to find netural on my 250r.

You need a new clutch basket!!!

When the basket gets worn it get notches in it. That doesn't let the plates slide as easy as they should. When it is running it is spinning and the centrifical force keeps them from seperating. When it isn't running it is easier for them to seperate.

also do the 89 upgrade, if yours is older than 89.

Any aftermarket billet basket will do. Also listen to the the hulk if you have the 86 clutch rod and that little ball bearing get the 89 clutch update it is way better.
