Any known brand with the new snell specs (M2000). Also make sure it has a removable liner so you can pull it out and wash it.

I have the HJC ACX2 Chromium helmet . Paid close to $350 Canadian and worth every penny . Very light weight , Snell approved , removable liner for washing , warm in the winter , breaths well in the summer and very stylish . And if you have a Red and white YFZ450 , the red chrome on the helmet is almost spot on with the red frame of the YFZ .

A ok helmet, say Fulmer brand, costs about 80 to 129. Kinda heavy though, wears on your neck muscles alot, and the padding is fair.

They are ok, but once you have a decent helmet on your head, say 140 to 200, you will know why people buy them. Much lighter and more comfortable! My HJC is one in that price range. Just makes a day of riding so much better.

The more expensive helmets, 200 to 300, they are even better, soft as warm butter on your head :D and worth every penny.

Look for places such as http://store.bobscycle.com/index.htm online. They sell last years models at a big discounts. If you dont buy from them, its still a good place to check out all the brands and styles.
I would recommend going and trying on helmets at the local shops though.

Ive got a shoei. Its a nice helmet but the liner isn't removable. I don't think I'd buy another one for that reason. My dad wears an o'neal and I think it is all carbon fiber, That thing is super light! I may look into one of those. I always buy Smith google also. Just a personal preferance

I currently have a TDC T-15 helmet from Rocky Mountain ATV and it's alright but I don't like the bolt on chin guard and the fact that it is not snell approved.. I've been looking at the TDC T-4 helmets though, they are DOT and snell approved, have a removable/washable liner and molded in chin guard and they sell for only $55! Anyone tried one of these?

I recommend going down to your local shop and try on the helmet the exriders have recommended. The most important things are when looking for is:
1-Fit ( the helmet must fix you properly {snug})
2- Make sure it is SNELL approved.
3- Comfort- Just because it fits does not mean it is comfortable.
4- Style- Optional

Goggles- There is a lot of good company that make goggles.
I have 3 pair Scott, Oakley, & Spy. My favorite pair is the Spy goggles. The reason I have 3 goggles is that each pair has a different shades of lenses in each one.

I have a Shoei....and my liner is fully removable and washable....most newer styles are the same way. Amazing helmet......faceguard is VERY strong....his Shoei saved my boyfriends face when he endoed on a huge table top. Shoei's, Arai's - probably two of the finest helmets.....but very pricey. I would also try the new TLD helmets, the new Carey Hart Bell helmet (my new favorite and future helmet!)....and the more expensive FOX ones are nice......also....the better HJC's are nice, too......I had one for my first helmet....did an awesome job. DOT doesn't mean much....I'd go for SNELL/DOT - and if it exceeds, them, then that's even better!!! :) Good fit is very important!!!

yeah im thinking about trying a shoei out also because my friend is sponsered by them and gets them at dealer cost. a 500+ dollar helmet for like 250. just because the great deal i might buy one.:macho. i also love the new carey fox one, it looks bad and i love the way they fit. also has anyone heard about the new ONE INDUSTRIES helmets, they look cool and the build of them reminds me of the fox helmets. choices choices.

I currently have 2 Arai's and a Shoei. The Shoei is DEFINITELY lighter. I dont have it sitting here and the pads arent in my Arai or I would put them both on and see what one to tell you is better...the one thing I can tell you is that the Arai quantum series street helmet is the most comfortable helmet I have ever worn. It is a little heavier than my Shoei VFX-R, and about the same as my Arai MX helmet. The Shoei is the most comfortable quad/MX style helmet I have worn, to the point that I dont feel like I am wearing a helmet. And just for $hits and giggles, heres pics of em.

I think you get a lot of helmet for the money with the HJC. I have the older AC-X1 (now AC-X2), and it's great. It was a little snug around the cheeks at first, but now that the padding's broken in, it fits like an old shoe. I don't think there's a better, lighter, more feature packed helmet in the $200 price range.

I can't believe so little people have even mentioned the Bell series helmets :huh

I would only recommend a helmet that has an external kevlar shell. The fiberglass and plastic helmets won't take nearly the impact that the kevlar will. The kevlar may fall apart on a really good impact but it's designed that way so that it will absorb a lot of the impact instead of just bouncing your head like a ping pong ball.

I like my HJC, the only thing I dont like about it is, it pushes VERY tight on my cheeks (the padding) and literally hurts after awhile.... :( The helmet is not too small either... I would have looked for a dif. kind had I known the fit would feel ike this after a few hours of wear..
Do any of the hlments come with optional padding to buy that might be different padding to make fit more comfortable??

I've got an O'Neal & LOVE IT it's been a GREAT helmet!! We just got my son a HJC & it's a GREAT helmet in fact when I get a new one I'm thinking one of those, less $$ than the O'Neal!! Lil man has a M2R that we paid $38 for online & it's a GREAT one too!!! Especially for the $$ it's cool looking too :)
