I just read that Honda will release a CR450X for the woods with electric and kick start in Feb of 05. Same basic motor as the CRF450, and the TRX450R. Maybe an electric start TRX450R is in the works for the future? Just a thought. I know I would rather have electric start. It would make life a little easier. I ain't gettin' any younger...

Yep, its a great idea for those trail riders looking for alittle more than the crf250x. It was a great idea in my opinion

i'm still wondering why everyone whines about a kicker. keep your stuff maintained and properly tuned an it will start on the first kick

Why is there a kicker on it?

Why is the kicker on it? Believe it or not, a lot of guys who race harescrambles/GNCC/etc... that use dead engine starts feel that they get quicker starts with the kicker as opposed to the e-start, at least once you get the procedure down. Also, on a bike, the weight issue is more of a factor so it gives a die hard the option to remove the e-start gear if they choose.

As Honda will usally err to the side of practicality, I'm hoping the kick starter will remain in place as stardard equiptment. Not an add on option.

I'm not whining about the 450 being kick start, it's easier to press that little button and you're running.

now that ui have had both, i honestly would rather have a kicker, they start just as fast, less weight, less wires = less potential problems.

i am glad to see they left the kicker on as a backup, i think that is what all the ex's need. right now, your srewed if something happens to the battery or wire while you out riding. it should be much easier to kick your back up than pus your quad up a hill so you can roll down and bump start it
