I know this is an on going question, but I am still undecided what shock to get. I know the tcs's are cheaper, but would like to get the better one's the first time. Any input would be appreciated. It is for a 2003 400ex stock a-arm's for motocross. Just need something that will make the ride alot smoother and save my old body.

I have TCS ZPS shocks up front and ELKA SSD with linkage in the rear. They both are great and compliment ecah other nicely. I like the look of the elka better, but is it worth a few hundred more? Both are great just make sure they are valved for you and not someone else.

If you're setting it up for MX you need to get at least +1 or +2 arms and the shocks will have to be setup for the wider arms. Best to just do it right the first time instead of having to turn around and have to send the shocks back in to be revalved for the wider arms. Some people will get the shocks first, but go ahead and get them setup for the wider arms and they willl just be stiff until you actually get the arms. You can get some burgard arms for less then $500.

That is why I like this site, lots of good advice from riders with experience. thanks alot guys, keep the info coming. I think I am going with elka's, unless I get some tcs's real cheap.

go with elka then,99 percent of the time you will get them within a week and a half if even

I own both. Elka's are my favorite but the TCS are great for the price. No matter what you get you'll be happy, but if you race MX you need some wider a-arms!

Elka's came in 6 days

TCS came between 1-2 weeks:)

My first set of elkas were here in 3 days!:eek2:

Their customer service and willingness to go out of their way to help me out in a hurry means a lot and I am sold on elka.

Elkas will be just fine. Its amazing how much better you feel after a hard ride on elkas, compared to stock.

i dont think i can afford axis, although i missed the front's and rear for 900. i should have bought them. elka's are the one's i am going to go with, although i was going to go with work's for some strange reason. i guess they was cheap, but you get what you pay for.

TCS shocks are built for you and not pulled of the shelf and to your door in a week. Todd at TCS can set up your shocks however you want if you dont like the setup send them back. Elka will keep sending you springs. Call TCS and see how many Elka shocks are in there shop for valving!

neither are Elka's...they build them EXACTLY as you ask them to...and they still get to your door in a week!

Where is the best place to buy elka's?

Florida400EX

I just think elka keeps a lot of shocks pre-made, cause some get delivered faster then others.... TCS shocks are great though, any shock will suit you well,as long as it's set-up properly, and serviced when it needs it.

I'd go with tcs's but I got my personal reasons.

i think if you went with tcs and there rear rebuild for 400 you could gete a set of burgaurd arms too for the price of the elkas but i think form all the other treads that elkas are a tad better than tcs but thats just opions
