kick start screwed up

hey i need some help, i kno this is a fourwheeler site, but on my 2000 yz125 i recently put a new water punp shaft in and when i put the case cover deal back on and tried to kick start it my kick start will go down but not come back up, what is the deal? thanks guys

my zilla was like that when i rebuilt the motor. so i just ran it like that, and then it finally started to come back up by itself
