dumb question about grease zerks

Is there a specific way to get the nozzle of the grease gun off a grease zerk after its been "attached"? Everytime I use the grease gun its a tug of war on each zerk to get it off, its such a pain I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong and missing the easy way. Not to mention I always feel like I'm going to break the nozzle or the zerk.

Notice on the end of the grease gun there is a fitting. Most are adjustable to tighten or loosen them on the zerk. Sometimes they dont. You can pic up a new tip for cheap at autozone.
