the 450r is pritty much the same as the 400ex like the way the frame and a arms, swing arm and the shocks should fit
both fronts and back

from what ive been told the shocks will fit. some that have made the switch say it works great, others have told me they needed to revalve the shocks.

if you can try it go for it. just be safe and ride it slowly at first and hit very small jumps to make sure its not going to make the quad handle weird.

then report back here and let us all know:macho

Well I just got a new Dual rate Axis shock With some extra goodies done to it from Gt thunder and Laz's link for my 450R and I can tell ya right now its way better than my elka and there link.

My buddy has a ex and were going to put the Elka on it tomorrow and Ill give out a full report Monday afternoon after were done riding!

I just wanted to know if its close didnt really feel like trying if it was not possible.

Thanks for the replies!!!!

oem vs oem, the 450r shock is actually about a 1/2" shorter than the 400ex shock. Should bolt up, but will lower the ride height a bit.

Carson,
Your absolutely right it is a 1/2" shorter, bolts up fine. You cant use the 450r link with it.

It lowered the ride height and made a very big improvement for my buddies riding style, soaks up everything quite well,he's stable and the rear end does not swap all over.

are the shocks for the 450R on the 400EX better for jumping like they dont bottom out as easy as the stock 400EX. thanks

Well see here's the deal.
I had a elka on my 450r because Custom Axis didnt have there new set up available yet.

I just got the Axis and my buddy has elkas on the frt of his EX and a stock rear. So we put the elka 450r one on the rear. Much better than stock by far!!
