Ford Ranger hop ups

I bought a 98 ford ranger stepside xlt quad cab 4x4 with a 3.0 liter. I wanted a 4.0 but i couldn't pass up the deal. What can I do to help out the performance? I definetely want an exhaust and air filter but i'm not sure where to get them and what to get. If anyone knows anything else that would help out its preformance it would be very helpfull, thanks.

good look at the exhaust
looks like a i squated to take this pic but i didn't, that's how elevated the truck is, bumper was eye level
