Need a little more zip

I have an 03 300ex with full pipe, K&N, jetted, larger front sprocket, and 20 inch rear tires. I just want a little more zip in the higher gears, 1st and 2nd are great , 3rd OK but 4th and 5th lack a little. Is there a reliable under $200 mod I can do to get this or is there something I can do that will help it out all around.

there are no hotcams for the 300...umm running with no lid or drilling holes and rejetting might add a little bit...the 300 always seems the slack on the last gears..its like it runs outta power...high compression pistons work pretty good..umm..a webcam would be good too...your prob gonna have to do some engine work to get anymore power...:)

Oh my bad...they don't make any aftermarket cams for the 300EX? That doesn't make much sense considering so many people have 300EX's and race them...hmm...well then I guess I'd just go for the high compression piston.

First off what pipe are you running? Is it jetted perfect?

You could put in a high compression piston for less than 200, but with out a cam you would not get all the performance out of it. I would say get a high compression piston and then get a good cam and spring kit later on.
