View Full Version : What Octane Gas is Everyone Running?

I was kinda wondering about this. I run the cheap (well, cheap compared to others) 87 octane in mine and run 110 in races and other competitions. I have been running mine rather hard lately, hitting very high RPMs at times and am considering going up to 93 for piece of mind. But it is pretty expensive, and I ride a lot.
So, what do you guys run, maybe i can get an idea of what I should do. Thanks.

I run 93 in my 400 all the time. It starts up better and fires better for me.

Well, so far, it sounds like i am gonna be switching. Besides, 93 does cost a terrible amount more anyway. Gas prices screw you just about either way you go, might as well let the wheeler get some good juice. Thanks.

Vp c12 110 octane, and high compression.
I would use premium for all stock bikes, regardless of 87 being cheaper.

Alright, thanks. I didn't realize so many people used it on a regular basis. I am gonna go ahead and run all the 87 out of it when i get my front end back together and then fill it up with 93 for this weekend.
It is not the money really, but more of the fact that i never gave much thought to it. It is amazing how easy it is to overlook something as essential as gas. I am kinda excited about switching really, lol. Something different i guess.
Thanks for the help.

You aren't going to notice a single bit of difference, except the extra couple bucks from your pocket.;)

I usually go to the air strip and get the 100 octane aviation fuel. It's only about 2.40/gal and is worth the extra .25 over 93 for me. The bike runs a little cooler with it and seems to rev a lot smoother in the upper RPM's. :D I never run less than 93 though.
