Alright guro's... I am thinking that in the ever effort to compete with the new bikes...I need bigger, and now a 4 stroke :( lOL So will a 520 sx motor fit in my 250 (300pv) R ? Will that motor fit in my 400ex? I bought the ex, tore it down to rebuild and the price to be competetive is very scary compared to just buying a yayaha or a new 450r. Where I race MX there is no displacement regs so to me this seems like an easy motor replacement if possible..... ANYONE DO THIS ON EITHER FRAME AND WHAT DOES IT TAKE? THANKS ALL!

I am sure you could put that engine on your 250r. I know about a 250r with a hayabusa motor on it! Talk about over kill. And people are putting cr500r motors on 250r frames all the time. In fact I race with a guy that has cr500r on a 250r frame. very quick.

just a matter of making motor mounts and in some cases engine/frame clearance issues

I have seen a 400ex with a 520 motor in and It is a little tight but works mount rads where you would put shrouds and oil tank in the regular place. Have to racecut the plastic, but o well its sweet, do it

I know its 3 g's but I think walsh makes a frame especially for that motor... I know Mike Walsh was personally running one of those and if Im not mistaken he made the frame for Darryl Rath's original 520sx...

To mount a 520 in a r or ex frame the top frame rail has tobe relocated to make room for the water pump on the 520,also your swing arm will have to be mill on the left side where the swing arm bolt goes through to be able to shift the motor to the left so the chain will line up.Dont let any body tell you different,i have one. Also you will need an aftermarket rear shock with a seperate resey because the rear resey on an ex will hit the motor
