 I heard that someone makes a 412 or 416 big bore kit. One that you get the head and everything and you just swap yours for there's with the new piston & rings and you are good to go with regular pump gas and don't have to use race fuel like the 440 kits. Does anyone know of this company or if this is true? I haven't found anything on this!!!

what you will want to do is buy a 416 piston. this will come with piston, rings, piston pin, and circlips. you will then take your cylinder and get it bored .080 over to match your piston. just bring your piston and cylinder to the shop so they can gap the rings and they know what they are working with. most 416's are around 10.8:1 compression. most everyone gets away with running 91-93 octane with this piston.

Just like he said it above me. You don't have to run race gas with all 440 kits. It depends on the compression of the piston.;)

yep, the compression mainly determines the need for race gas, not the over bore. If you put a 12.5-1 piston in a stock bore you would still have to run race gas in a 400ex.

OK! So who sells these kits that I can run 94 and under pump gas? And do any sell them with the cylinder where you can return your core?:)

All you need to do is order the piston from whoever you want. Then take the cylinder with the paperwork that came with teh piston to a machine shop and have them bore the cylinder. Install the piston and your ready ta rip tits....:eek2:

what he said. This is what i did, i also did my cam while i was in there (highly recommended) U can run pump gas safely with this kit, i would recommend air scoops for added cooling though. I run a 104 octane mix usually. U dont need to run race unless u are above 11:1 though.
