how do ya tighten the chain

how do you tighten a chain on a 04 400 ex the manual is confusing
please show pics and every thing else step by step thnks

Pretty easy stuff here, you'll need an allen wrench, a ruler or tape measure, and a big fat flathead screwdriver or similar tool.

Sit yer ***** down behind yer quad and loosen (not remove) the 4 allen head bolts on the rear of the swingarm. The adjuster ring is between the swingarm and the rear sprocket. The ring 6 to 8 large notches in it. Use your screwdriver rotate the adjuster ring to achieve the desired slack (I think this is labelled on the quad on the swingarm). Re-tighten the allen bolts and you're ready to go.
