Tim Farr

Does anyone know what kind of motor work Tim Farr had done to his 450R???

Farr has a little Sparks sticker on his right side case. Shouldn't be hard, whoever does his motorwork would gladly promote/advertise it.

But yeah, either Bladwin or Sparks for sure

Since Sparks builds Farr's motors. What do you think they did to the motor to get more power out of it? Besides a new carb, full exhaust and air filter. Cause isn't the 450R allready at the full 450cc limit?

dude there is so much done to that motor some 1 w/o a sponsorship unless they are loaded couldnt afford it...unless they are loaded proally a 5k motor


they would do things like

13.8:1 compression ratio piston
sparks cam
the lightweight flywheel kit
fcr carb kit from baldwin
heavy duty connecting rod
tim also has a sparks exhaust w/ a DG sticker on it

i wish honda put in the effort like suzuki does or like honda does for their dirtbikes, not sure if its deff true but i heard charmicheals motor or whover is ridibulously built with all one off parts made by honda and that its in the tens of thousands for each motor...

I think he has a different cylinder. I forget where I saw the picture, but on the left side of his cylinder there is some sort of writing etched on it. Also up where the thermostat is on the left side it just looks different. The pic is in the August ATV Action. I think the writing says sparks.

Man there is so much done to that thing!!! Do the things listed below and it will help quite a bit....

13:1 comp. Piston
crf carb kit
flywheel kit
Sparks Cam ( or other cams )
Port and Polishing to the head
titanium valves.....

**EDIT** sorry bout that.....FCR Carb Kit not sure who sells them tho...Oh the crf carbs work to but not as easily as the FCR kit im sure !!

The crf carb IS a 40mm fcr carb.

i dont think sparks would sell any joe schmoe a motor like tim's because if he did then that means any racer out there would be able to get tim's exact replica motor and have just as much hp

i dunno tho....i think they would do something to tims motor that they wouldnt sell to the general public

um obviously, since tim does not advertise sparks, they have no special deal going on, if he puts a dg sticker over his sparks pipe obviously sparks isnt tied into the sponsorship deal. Sparks will sell u anything he has for the right money.

I was refering to the crf bike when I stated about the 40mm fcr. Although if you're referring to what sparks actually sells then I agree with you.

I think u could get the same motor as tim farr if u gave the engine builder the money...Its not all about the motor...its important but idc how fast a motor is the quad can only go as fast as the rider lets it!!! Im not sure tho they might not sell a motor like wut tims got to anyone...idk tho !!

well sparks has won 4stroke wars for like 3 years straight, he is engine builder of the year and i think his turn around rate on a motor is like a 14 month wait. thats just for port work. thats what the wait was when dan was trying to get his motor in. your 2 biggest gains on a bike will be exhuast, and porting. got to have some place for the air to flow in and out of.

yea port work and exhaust are important i agree...But porting and polishing will work much better with the cam and piston it isnt gonna make that big of a difference when the 450r only has 10:1 comp piston:(

according to the may 04 issue of atv action tim runs a baldwin moded crf carb and a dg pipe

yes. 13:1 with any after market cam. but porting and exhaust will be your greates single power increase. i was just assuming that if your going to have port work you will have piston and cam to go with it. porting will open so much up with a hi-comp piston and high lift cam. you almost have to get porting to get all your power out of your piston and cam.:blah:

Actualy i wanna take back what i said about honda not supporting tim, i feel bad for him how he is not getting any positive reactions to finishing top 3. He is working hard and i dont think people are backign him enough

Honda isnt one to loose and if they are losing they wont lose for long. Look to see Tim, and possibly another rider come back with a vengance Next season. Honda has lost too much market share as it is already to Yamaha. I cant expect them to be out for much longer.
