dont clutch if you like replacing a transmission every so often i guess its all in how much you like working on it

The only time I use the clutch is when I lock up the rear brakes or I am starting off. I just up shift and down shift without it when I'm riding. I race and I never had any transmission problems with my 250R or my 450R. you just have to let off the throttle when you shift. None of my racing/riding buddies use the clutch either. I don't know were you are getting your information from.

I normally use it, but more out of habit than anything else. In a big hurry (and most of us are) I don't, but really I don't think about it, if I had to guess, I'd say I only actually use it between shifts about half the time. My quads have never been picky about using it and they drop into gear very reliably either way.

Have fun!
