I have a few questions about a kicker. I plan on making it out of metal in my metal fab. class in school. I want to know what some good measurements are. (Hieght, length, width) Also when i build the landing does it need to be just as high as the ramp?

ive heard you want the height onethird the length.

i have built 2 side pieces of ramps that i designed one didint turn out right and one is to tall for me to finish now but the 1/3 thing
it depends on how you build and how steep you want it if its your first ramp i wouldnt build it very tall maybe 4-5feet and sicnce im just guessing you ride a quad it needs to be 6 feet wide of surface if you ride abike only 4 my 5 foot tall side peice i built was about 12-13 feet long but it was never finished be cause i couldnt get dirt hauled in at the time ill eventually finish it when i can get some dirt
my 4 ramp side peice turn out way to steep a 4 foot ramp prolly needs to be 11-12 feet long mine turned out at like 91/2
and the landing if hte ramp is mellow prollysame height to a foot lower and if it got osme kick atleast same height to 2 feet higher depending on how far away thats bout all i can tell you till we know what you ride

I have a 6 1/2 foot wooden kicker that i built and i have jumped it alot but it is waaay too sketchy for me. I was thinking about 6 or 7 feet tall and then 18 or 21 feet long.

im glad i saw this before someone kills themselves
there is NO ratio for firguing height and length so dont even start that way.
what you do is figure out how tall.. rule of thumb is just make the dang thing full height 8 + feet . cuz you can just push it in real close to start out with.
then figure out your angle. if you want a bit of a kicker with a pop to it then make it like 40 degrees-ish . if you want more of a comp angle make it like 37-38 degrees-ish. then make a flat spot anywhere from 2- 4 ft of just straight angle. then start to curve it to a constant radius to a few inches from the ground, usually like 4. then make another straight angle all the way to the ground.
if you have a 8+ ft tall ramp and its like a poppier kicker ramp.. whithout the last piece that goes to the ground.. it sgonna be around 15 ft -ish long then another like 3 ft or so for that, so a total of 18 ft long it will be.........approx
and your landing should be taller than teh takeoff, but when just learning and you have the ramp pushed clean in,.. make it the same height so its safe. then as you pull it back, start adding to your landing. when you get it back to at least 60 ft or so it should be about at least 2 ft taller than the takeoff.
