I have successfully added a brake light on my 400EX with both front and rear switches. Thanks for all those who provided input (special thanks to tprender).

Brake & tail lights both on

Total time was about 2 hours. All connections were either soldered or bullet connector plugged. All wiring was shrink tubed. Super clean and really easy.

looks good! How much was the front brake switch?

The front switch came from exriders member tprender. Its the clutch/neutral switch from the parking brake/clutch assembly. The front brake assembly is already made to accept that switch. Reckin' Honda just decided against it for whatever reason but sure makes it easy.

Looks great!

Tell me about the bulbs and sockets you used. I want to use an LED light but they cost more than I want to spend for this.

I used a side marker socket assembly made by Calterm, #08591. $2.99 at the local parts store. Uses the same bulb as tail light.

I just drilled a couple of holes and popped them in. They are made out of a "soft" plastic and easily pushed/twisted in.

Fo those interested, the front switch is $10 at Plant Honda. Part #35340-ML4-005 (SWITCH, FR. STOP) The bracket is not needed, just a 4mm X 1/4" screw (I think thats the right size) 0.16 at the hardware store. Your local dealer or this website's sponsors might have a better deal... dunno.

All total, around $31. I already had wiring, fuse block, shrink tubing, zip ties and connectors.
