can i paint my plastics?

mine are all dull, and i have $0 right now since i just bought the quad. i will get new plastics in a few years, but can i paint em now? i was thinking a good sanding, krylon fusion primer, then krylon fusion paint and then some sort of gloss.

would this work? any other suggestions welcome.

ive seen it done be4. it all depends on your effort to it. my buddy got white ones off of ebay and here they were spray painted and the dude left a big patch off blue on the left back fender.
