I'm looking to get a 250r and I found a guy that wants to trade a 2003 KTM 250sx that I won at a year end banquet of my XC series for his 89 TRX. I don't want the KTM so I wanted to sell and get a 250r to turn into a TT quad. What do you guys think about this one? Do you think it would be worth it? I'm new to 250rs so any help you could give me I would appreciate. There has been no engine mods just bolt on items. I don't mind making it a project so I'm just wondering if it has "potential" and worth giving the KTM instead of selling it. Here are the pics he sent me. Thanks

Thats a nice clean looking 250r. When was the last time the guy rebuilt the top and bottom end. Search around alittle more and see if you can find a better deal but if not, that looks like a nice quad to turn into a project :) .

The top and bottom end were rebuilt last year...he only used it to trail ride every once in awhile....he races bikes so he hasn't riden it very much.

Are those really PEP shocks on the front? If not i'd be a little suspicious of any other itens on the quad..

What are '89 250r's going for in your area? Compare that to the price of the 250sx. Since you won the bike you are ahead of the game...

No they aren't PEPs they are Works that he sent off and got them revalved by PEP....as for selling the KTM...there is no demand for them in my area...I've had the thing for 4 months and have had no hits on it at all.

if the shocks a works done by pep they are now basicly pep shocks as pep uses works bodies and they just do a little different things to them and put their name on them if i remember right pep only uses the bodies and then changes the valveing and springs the r looks pretty clean check the frame real close for cracks around the swing arm mount rear shock mount and the steering support hoop

Yeah I'm gonna be at Mayflower but I if I get the 250r it will be that Monday after the race plus I'm gonna rebuild it from the ground up. I'm still gonna race XC I just want to do something different so I'm gonna try out TT.

Looks like a good deal to me.It looks like thats stock plastic and stock tires!!!I wouldn't care one way or the other on the shocks, probably a PEP sticker he put on there for looks.I would check the frame closely and ride it and see what your butt thinks:blah:
