My 400ex rear brake calliper blew a seal, And i heard somthing about running a 250r,or a 450r calliper on it! I was wondering what all i need to run a 250r rear brake calliper on my 400ex?

I know that i can fix my calliper,But i figguer that i might as well convert it to somthing with a little more surface area, to save pads!

Any info would be great!

You need a 250r brake hub, caliper bracket, disk and caliper.

Or you can put a crf 450 front caliper on the rear with this kit.

Will any of those parts work from my 400ex? Faulk?

I know what you saying about converting the brake system, thought about it myself for the added ground clearance. The 250R rotor is smaller. I don't think it's worth it and new seals are about $5;)

They will fit but you need all the 250r brake stuff.

The 450 caliper would be the better choise there are a bunch of beat up 250r calipers floating around. And you would still need the 250r brake hub and disk with this kit too.

But if cost is an issue just get the 400 caliper fixed.

The main advantage i think for the 250r brake setup is getting the extra ground clearence. Especially if your like me and dont run a rear skid plate.

Money is sorta a thing, It will just take me longer to get it if its more expencive, Im just trying to save the money when it comes to buying pads, And i thought that a dual piston would make for better stoping power! And with more surface area, the pads would last longer! I plan on repairing my calliper anyways to just have one for a spare, (im borrowing a buddies now)

lets see if we can revive this just for people out there. if you look on this forum there is a thread about this. to put a 450r rear caliper on a 400ex you need:
caliper
caliper stay
brake rotor
rotor hub.
while you can do this swap there is not really a huge point, biggest benefit wouldbe ground clearance, the 400ex has a larger rotor for better stopping power, but a weaker caliper. vs smaller rotor with bigger caliper on the 450r. its really up to you which you prefer.

btw yfz450/raptor 700 front calipers BOLT UP to 400ex front spindels. just an FYI though.
